There are generally 3 types of garage doors: Tilt Door, Panel-Lift or Sectional Door and Roller Doors.

Tilt Doors

This type of doors are single panel garage doors that swing and tilt open by means of arms fixed on its sides. These doors are classical doors that was installed a while back ago and is now been replaced with roller doors or panel/sectional door.

This motor can be used for tilt door as well as panel/sectional door.  It is designed for door size of up to 16.5 square metres.  The SD800 has been engineered to the highest standard and utilised proven technology coupled with high features as standard to ensure reliable, safe and quiet operating performance year after year.  The unit is belt driven and it has powerful DC motor which means reduced noise and vibration on opening and closing.  It has soft Start/Stop function to ensure smooth and quiet door operation which is important when the garage is located close to bedrooms or living areas.  One of the safety features is the Auto Safety Reverse where if an obstruction occurs during closing of the door this function causes the garage door to immediately stop and reverse direction upon contact with the obstruction.  During operation the force required is constantly monitored and adjusted to ensure economical operation and reduced wear and tear.  In case of power failure, the manual release can be easily activated to open the garage door.

Panel-Lift Doors or Sectional Doors

This type of doors consist of a few rectangular panels (3 to 6) that slide up and overhead with the track installed on the ceiling. They are available in various styles and colours.  The advantage of this type of door is that it does not take extra space outside of your garage to open.  This is the main difference from the classical Tilt door where you need an extra space outside to accommodate for the swinging arcs of a tilt door.  The panels are joined with hinges and are fixed to the track with rollers to allow the door to slide up and overhead with ease.

Roller Doors

This type of door does as its name suggest, rolls up and down to cover the actual garage door opening.  The mechanism of the roller door is simple and is very low on maintenance.  It requires good tension and smooth guiding tracks in order for it to function properly.
